Handling Injuries

We are not doctors and we always recommend you check with yours before attempting an "injury handling".

Each of us are different!

Common First Aid actions can be done and we've got some great successful suggestions that campers have used.

PRE-INJURY

Why  not do things to AVOID injury.

1) Get the proper shoes for your body.  Do NOT go to Big 5, Kohls, SportMart (or the like) to get your shoes.   Go to a PROFESSIONAL RUNNING STORE and they will take time to intelligently evaluate YOUR body, YOUR gait...YOU!

You need to mention you are doing camp.

Who:  Foot Pursuit (Simi Valley), Pheidippides (Encino) , FutureTrack (Agoura), Road Runner (Thousand Oaks)

2) If you are NEW TO RUNNING or have gained a lot of weight or are carrying a lot of weight, WALK FOR THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF CAMP.  Do not run...at all.  You will need to get your body accustomed to moving at a fast pace.

Indications that you need new shoes:
ankle pain, pain on the bottom of your feet, KNEE PAIN, SHIN SPLINTS

Ask us to look at your shoes and give you an HONEST opinion.
