General Questions

What is it?
We are the Outdoor Fitness Program you see in Simi Valley!   A 6-week fitness and nutrition BLAST that will change your life, all for the better!  Camp Tours run 6 weeks, 5 days per week (Monday-Friday) and 1 hour per day.  You also have a Camp Survival Manual that helps you make the best food choices to get the most out of your camp experience and achieve your goals!

How much is it?
The full program is $500 for first time campers.   We give an excellent $125 discount if you keep perfect attendance and wish to continue.  After 3 boot camps, your full price is $250 if you keep perfect attendance!

What if I can't make every single day?
You only pay for the days you can attend.  When you register we give you a calendar and you mark off the days you will miss and then we adjust the price down.  We take it by the day so it is absolutely fair. Then we expect you there every day YOU say you will be there!  We hold you accountable.

Is this a diet?
No.  It is a FITNESS PROGRAM that will improve your overall fitness.  Every single camper has lost weight, lost inches, toned up muscles...every component of physical fitness is take into account when we plan out the program.

Can I just try it?
Of course, we don't want to make you pay for something you end up HATING!  For $20 you can try us out and get a true and personal taste of our camp then decide.

Where is it?
It is all outdoors - all around Simi Valley including the beautiful trails and mountains!    Here's a list of some of the locations we have camp at:

Simi Valley Civic Center
Lemon Park
Marr Land Trail
Corriganville Park
Reagan Library
Hummingbird Trail
Chumash Trail
Royal High School
Simi Valley High School
Rocky Peak
Rancho Madera Community Park
Long Canyon
Windmill Park
Challenger Park
Regal Theater/Starbucks
Rancho Santa Susana Park
The Vineyards
Simi Valley Library
Simi Valley Town Center
Rancho Tapo Community Park
Lost Canyon Golf Course

we seem to add to this list every camp!

Is this for kids?
No, this is an adult program.  We have accepted teenagers who have a fitness or athletic sense.  If you think your teen could handle the program just call and let's talk about it!  805-823-3409.

Do I have to be fit in order to do the program?
We take all fitness levels.  If you are worried about whether or not you can handle the program expectations - take a look at our photos to see what we do.  Every day is different but we always stretch, warm-up, run and cool down.  We determine what level you are (from walker to an elite athlete) and then you work with people of similar ability.  In the end, you always get a workout that takes 100% of what YOU can give.

What are your class times?
We meet at 5:30am, 7:00am and 6:00pm Monday through Friday for 6 straight weeks.  And we also offer **FREE** Saturday boot camps regularly!  Our campers are always alerting us to field trip places that give a great work out - our next "big trip" will be to the beach!  We can't wait!

When are the tour periods?
We call a FULL CAMP SESSION a "Tour".  It is 6 weeks and includes accountability on your food intake.

This is different than our MINI BOOT CAMP which is normally 3 days per week and doesn't follow your nutritional intake.

11th Tour: Nov 5-Dec14
12th Tour: Jan 7-Feb 15th
13th Tour: Feb 25th-Apr 4th
14th Tour: Apr 14th- May 23rd
15th Tour: Jun 2nd-Jul 11th
16th Tour: Jul 28th-Sep5th
17th Tour: Sep 15th-Oct 24th
18th Tour: Nov 3rd-Dec 12th

We have 8 Mini Boot Camps throughout each year.

That's a LOT of boot camp!!

What's this about bringing my dog?
Yes!  We love that we offer days that your dog can join you for the work out.  We'll give you a schedule and let you know when it is workable to bring your dog.  The smaller dogs poop out quickly but the larger dogs don't want to get back in the car to go home!  You need your leash and a water bowl too.

Can I use an iPod?
No, we expect 100% of your attention for the entire 60 minutes.

What if it is raining?  Do we still have camp?

Oh yeah!  Those are the most fun days actually!!  805 Boot Camp runs RAIN or SHINE.  And we even start at 5:30am when it is DARK but they get the fantastic sunrise by the end of a class most times.  6:00pm classes enjoy a sunset.

Will there be other expenses?
Yes, you need a good mat, free weights and a GOOD pair of running shoes.  Please (we beg you) don't go to a big sporting good store and buy a discount shoe.  Go to a PROFESSIONAL where they will evaluate YOU individually to make sure you are fitted in the perfect shoe.  This helps avoid shin splints, calf pain and other injuries that just slow you down from getting 100% on the program.

What do I need to do to start?

Call us 805-823-3409 and put your name on the list to enroll.  You'll need to decide which camp time fits your life the best (5:30am, 7:00am or 6:00pm). Then you come to BTO Day and get all of your pre-camp fitness stats (weight, body fat %, timed mile, endurance testing, flexibility testing)...see the BTO Day Q's below.  Your Waiver and Payment complete guarantee your spot.  First come first serve, we limit our class size to ensure each person gets the attention they need.  Check out the 805 Walkers page, maybe that gradient is right for you.

If you have a question that we haven't answered...just give us a call!

Basic Training and Orientation Day
BTO Day - Basic Training and Orientation BTO Day is a very important element of our program.

We prep and brief you on your mission for the next 6 weeks.

We discuss the DO's and DONT'S and the best ways to get the best results.

We also administer physical testing to ensure you are placed in the proper group to get the proper gradient of a work out.

If you are a walker - you DON'T want to end up with the elite runner group, right? And if you are an elite runner you will need a tougher workout to keep you progressing toward your goals.

Should I do anything special PRIOR to BTO Day?
Yes, please get a good night of sleep (6-8 hours) so you can do your current best on your testing.

Drink plenty of water the days prior and stay hydrated.

Find your RUNNING SHOES and EXERCISE CLOTHING and lay it out so you can be on time.

If you need to eat for energy, do it 50 minutes prior and just a small amount (so you don't throw up!)

What do I need at BTO Day?
Will you have any predicted or planned days OFF of camp? We will pro-rate your price. To be helpful we have posted the Camp Calendar on our website. Print it out and write your name on it and CIRCLE the dates. We appreciate when you organize before arriving.

If you are a returning camper: Decide if you are signing up for FULL or MAINTENANCE.

Which class time will you be joining (mostly)? 5:30am - 7am - 9am or 6pm.

You need to bring any coupons.

Payment at BTO Day is only by check (paid to 805 Boot Camp LLC) or cash. Otherwise you need to do your payment before and bring a printout of the transaction being complete. Go to our shop to pay with MasterCard or Visa.

Your general doctor's name/address/phone number. Know your basic health history.

When do I show up?
BTO Day starts at 7:05am SHARP.

You should come early to get a good seat and get yourself oriented to the space: 6:55 works great.

How long does it take?
If all goes smoothly - which we always plan for and work hard to make happen - 1 1/2 hours.

Can I bring my children/family?
If you must, it is acceptable. Please know that you should sit in a position to care for your kids without distracting the briefing or testing of other campers. The best is to leave kids at home but we understand: we have 4 of our own!

Can I bring my pet?
No, but if they love the outdoors we do have camps where they are invited to join us!

Should I wear full military gear, including any firearms?
Uhhhhhhh…no. This is a military STYLE program - we're not pretending to be a part of the real boot camps that our Armed Forces deliver.   But we've had campers watch movies like GI Jane, Platoon, Mosquito Coast and of course Patton to get ready!

The snap and pop and accountability are the key elements you need to be prepared for.

Just bring a good attitude and be prepared to WIN this battle!!

I'm think I'm too OLD and/or out of shape. Will this matter?
Yes, it will. We are not doctors or qualified to deliver any sort of medical advice. We're not calling anyone "old" - we had a 70 year old man do more push-ups than everyone else!!

But if you are over 50 years old or in bad fitness shape you need to check with your doctor and get their approval to do our program.

Please understand that this program is HIGH IMPACT and we will not accept you if we feel you cannot do it (it is for your own safety and health).

Very often we refer these sorts of people to a personal trainer we trust - or a less impact program (such as water aerobics).

Once they have improved their health and get their doctor's blessing - they join us.
