What IS ThunderDOME?

Teams of 4 conquer physical and mental challenges for one hour.  All outdoors in Corriganville Park.  

It’s all about working together in brawn, BRAINS and beauty!

Brawn: Cardio Strength and Muscle Strength are needed to complete various obstacles such as a tire drag, paralette bars, abdominal wheels, farmer walks with giant kettle bells, putting the stone, caber flipping, heavy ropes, sand bag pull, trail running and many more.  Most of these challenges are NOT what you will find in any gym anywhere!

Beauty: We just like the idea of our friends trying to look dazzling while dragging a tire a quarter mile!  But we will have a photographer taking pics, so brush your teeth and comb your hair and COORDINATE A TEAM SHIRT or COSTUME.  Remember you will be RUNNING and need to be unobstructed in your body movements.

Brains: When you are on the ThunderDome fields working on the obstacles it is going to be a real challenge to rub to brain cells together but that’s just what we’ve got in store for you.  Can you skip rope and do math?  Do you know that Big Blue’s acronym IBM stands for?  Who IS the Secretary of State?  We’ll be all over the map and you’ll need to  rely on each other for smarts!

Working together with a team physically is VERY gratifying (and might get challenging).

We created these workouts in late 2011 after a visit to the Seaside Ventura Games and has become a FAVORITE hour long workout “experience”.

The ThunderDOME Workout will sharpen up skills like:

  • Compassion
  • Tolerance
  • Physical Strength
  • Cardio Strength
  • Mental Strength

When each of these elements is at its best you have yourself a SUCCESSFUL TEAM!
